Reading AI Insights

AI Insights reads the figures on the page you're looking at and picks out what stands out. It's a quick way to find where to look first.

The AI Insights button.

Opening AI Insights

Click AI Insights next to the page title. A panel opens on the right of the page, and your insights appear after a few seconds.

The insights are based on the page you're on and the filters you've chosen. To get insights for different dates, change the filters, click Apply, and open the panel again.

What you'll see

The insights are sorted into three groups, each with a count.

  • Positives: what is going well.

  • Observations: changes worth knowing about.

  • Concerns: what may need your attention.

Each insight has a short title, the figures behind it, and a sentence explaining it.

When the same insights come back

If the figures behind the page haven't changed since the insights were last produced, Beacon shows the same insights again. This means a colleague who opens AI Insights for the same page and the same dates sees what you saw. If the figures have changed, Beacon produces new insights.

When AI Insights isn't available

AI Insights isn't available when your dates include today or a future date. This applies whether you're searching by stay date or by creation date. The figures for those dates are still changing, so insights based on them could be misleading. Choose dates that end yesterday or earlier.

The button is also greyed out in two other cases.

  • You're on the Budget page and no budget has been uploaded for the year. See Uploading your budget.

  • You're on the CXL Income page with Creation selected. Change the filter to Stay.

Check before you act

AI Insights only sees the figures on the page. Treat each insight as a prompt to look more closely, and check the detail in the reports before you make a decision.
